Caterpillar Visitors Center Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Leaders say it has been a success.
PEORIA – It was a big milestone for Big Yellow Saturday as it marked one year since the Caterpillar Visitors Center opened to the public.

The Visitors Center spotlights the company's history, products and initiatives and dozens of Caterpillar leaders, staff and community members took the day to celebrate the accomplishment.

Caterpillar says it has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors into the doors in the past 12 months. It considers the center a success in tying the business in with the community.

"So many come to see the building with their families and they get to show their spouse, kids, grandkids, here's what I was involved with,” said Jim Baumgartner, Director of Corporate Affairs.

In the past year, CAT says it has increased staffing at the Visitors Center and the building is on track to receive a gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for sustainability.
