Chiefs Strike Early, Beat Hawks

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- The first was important for the Chiefs Friday.

Angel Guzman's first step back to the majors coincided with the Chiefs' best first-inning rally of the season. Peoria sent ten men to the plate and scored five runs in the first on their way to a 6-3 win over South Bend at O'Brien Field.

Guzman did not allow a run or hit in two innings of work, which was his first appearance since he pitched for the Chicago Cubs on September 8, 2009. Guzman, 29, is recovering from right shoulder surgery which caused him to miss the entire 2010 season.
