Chillicothe Facility Extends Offer To Dunlap Fitness Members

The Pearce Community Center is extending a free offer to members of Dunlap Fitness.
CHILLICOTHE – A fitness facility in Chillicothe is stepping up to meet the needs of others. The Pearce Community Center is offering a free month to members of Dunlap Fitness, after members said it closed suddenly and unexpectedly last month.

At a meeting Thursday night, members of Dunlap Fitness spoke about the abrupt closing with officers from the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department.

Now, the Pearce Community Center, which is about 15 miles away in Chillicothe, said it wants to help those people. It’s offering Dunlap Fitness members some time to use its facility for free. Director Ben Alvarez said he wants members to be able to continue their gym routine, while they figure out what is next for them. He said, “We knew we were a club that could accommodate them and we knew that they had just been stung so we wanted to at least make ourselves available to them but no cost for awhile while they went through this transition of finding a new club.”

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Department tells WMBD 31 News it is investigating the closure of Dunlap Fitness as a theft case. We once again have reached out to the owner and have no received a response.

Pearce Community Center is offering members of Dunlap Fitness a free 30 day membership, and that includes free classes of “Pearce Strong” which are Cross Fit classes. You can find more information by calling the center at (309) 274-4209.
