BLOOMINGTON - Several flights at Central Illinois Regional Airport were also caught up in Thursday’s winter weather mess, but on Friday all flights were back up and running.

The airport knows it's not quite out of the woods yet. while the weather was milder last year, airport staff are taking all precautions in anticipation of a bitter Sunday with temperatures that haven’t been seen in months.

With snow and frigid temperatures in the forecast, airport officials are encouraging people to arrive early, in case of bad road conditions.

"That's the big thing, for travelers to try to start out early and get to the airport as early as they should get ready to get through the check-ins, and do all the things that they need to do, so there's no hang-ups on their end,” said Fran Strebing, deputy director of marketing for CIRA.

CIRA is slated to have a full travel day on Sunday, with 15 flights scheduled for the day.
