Community Center Gives Away Free Trees

40 families can now enjoy a tree on Christmas.
PEORIA - A tree decorated from top to bottom is one of the most popular signs of the season and thanks to the East Bluff Community Center, forty more Peoria families will enjoy one this Christmas.

Trees were donated to people in need Saturday along with stands made by habitat for humanity workers. Members of the center's basketball league also helped by distributing donations. The center's administrator, Jim Combs said he's proud so many organizations came together to help.

"Christmas is not always just gift giving it's receiving, it's fellowship. Working for somebody else, that's the whole purpose here. We're faith based and therefore we want to do as many things for people as we can but we want to give back and we want people to give back to us also as far as service and so forth," combs said

The community center also provided toys for area children and hot soup and chili for guests to enjoy.
