WASHINGTON, DC - 16TH District Congressman Adam Kinzinger was in his capitol office at the time of the shooting incident. He spoke with WMBD 31's Maria Chandler by telephone this afternoon.

"Given the tensions out here with the government shutdown, your mind automatically wanders to maybe there's a shooter loose." Kinzinger said. "All my staff and I locked the doors, put ourselves into my office which is even more in, in terms of my bigger office and waited out the news of what was going on."

Kinzinger says tension is high right now and knows where he works is a constant target.

We'll hear more from Kinzinger and other Illinois lawmakers today at 5:00 and 6:00PM.
