WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- Maybe the reason why the Chiefs don't have a new affiliation agreement with the Cubs yet is because there won't be one.
The Cubs are on the verge of moving their Class A Midwest League team from Peoria to Kane County, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.
The Chiefs are in the final year of their affiliation deal with the Cubs. The agreement, which began in 2005, expires Sept. 3.
The Cubs and Chiefs were also player development partners between 1985-95 before Chicago pulled its affiliation and the St. Louis Cardinals became the parent club to Peoria's Class A team.
