PEORIA - A young Peoria boy has been pronounced brain dead after running into a pick-up truck Monday morning.

11-year old Trever Chick, a 5th grader at Lincoln Middle School was trying to cross the street on NE Monroe between Mary and Caroline Street.

Police say the boy ran out between a CityLink bus and a car and then hit the side of a moving pick-up truck.

The Peoria County Coroner says Trever was pronounced brain dead Monday night at Children's Hospital of Illinois. His family is pursuing organ donation. An autopsy will follow.

Police say they are still reviewing the accident, but don't plan to charge the driver of the truck. Video from the near-by CityLink bus and witness accounts all indicate the boy ran out between the vehicles.
