Attempted Murder Suspect in Custody (UPDATE)

Peoria Police say a man accused of shooting another man in an apartment complex in custody.
PEORIA – Police said just after noon Friday a man shot another man in the hip in the parking lot of a Peoria apartment complex.

The suspect, DaeJohn Wilson, shot and injured another man then fled the scene.

It happened in Lexington Hills Apartments.

Police responded to the 3400 block of West Oak Crest Drive. They said they received two calls around 12:10 p.m. reporting that shots had been fired in that area.

Officers found the male victim in the parking lot with a hip wound and arm injury.

“He [the victim] stated that he had been shot with a handgun,” said Lt. Vince Wieland, “He also stated that he did know the suspect that shot him.”

The victim was taken to the hospital and those injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Police searched the neighborhood and nearby wooded area. According to police, Wilson turned himself into authorities about 8:20pm Friday. He was transported to the Peoria County jail awaiting formal charges.
