Baseball Hopefuls Court Cornbelters

Tryouts give amateurs a chance to play with the pros
Normal - It's baseball season in Illinois and area teams are gearing up for a full summer of America’s pastime.

At the corn crib, any average Joe had the chance to become a professional baseball player.

For one day only, walk-on tryouts were held.

More than twenty, from as far away as the Bahamas were on hand.

They took turns at batting practice, fielding, and base running.

The team management says this is a great way to get the community involved with the team and maybe find some local talent too.

“We just want to hold that dream for as many people as we can. So, anything that we can do to give you one more shot, to give you one more look to show you we are evaluating all of the talent out here se we don't miss anyone” explained Public Relations Manager Mike Rains.

Only twenty-two young men will make the final roster.

The Normal Cornbelters have their home opener Friday, May 16th.
