Beatles Tribute Concert Benefits Tornado Victims

WASHINGTON - Organizers hope to raise $5,000
WASHINGTON - Today marks 50 years since the Beatles made their memorable first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show , the starting point of their stardom in the United States.

And many music fans in central Illinois are celebrating the big anniversary

Local musicians hosted a Beatles tribute concert at Five Points in Washington Sunday afternoon to benefit tornado victims.

They played songs that spanned the entire Beatles career - from Love Me Do to Let It Be.

All the money raised at Sunday's concert will go to the Washington Rotary Club.

"I knew that The Beatles 50th Anniversary was coming," said performer Johnny Burnett. "I thought, 'I can put these two things together - a celebration of The Beatles music and help the tornado victims'."

Organizers hope to raise 5,000 dollars.
