Block Party Overtakes Water Street

Raises money for disaster relief
PEORIA - A block party took over Downtown Peoria.

The groups "Funds from the Heart" and the "Peoria Riverfront Association" hosted the first ever "Water Street Block Party".

It spanned more than 4 blocks, from State Street to the Riverfront Museum.

People listened to bands playing on 4 stages, enjoyed food from local vendors, and played oversized versions of yard games.

Event Planner Abby Kaufman says all the money raised tonight will assist in disaster recovery in Central Illinois and the Philippines.

"The organization just really has such a heart to give back and to really help those affected by disaster."

The party ran until 11pm.

Admission was just $5.
