Bloomington Eyes New Hotel for Downtown

Bloomington City Council is looking to develop a new hotel and conference center next to the Coliseum.
BLOOMINGTON- Bloomington's city council is looking into developing a new hotel and conference center for its downtown.

It was the topic of discussion during Monday night's city council work session.

The council got to hear the results of a feasibility study done by H-V-S consulting.

The projected price tag is at almost forty-four million dollars, which is more than the city expected.

Council will continue to discuss possible funding options as well as possible locations.

The mayor says the development would be a key component to revitalizing downtown and help boost Coliseum revenues.

No formal action is expected any time soon.

Mayor Tari Renner predicts several more months of planning before the project moves forward.
