Bloomington Sees a Record Number of Water Main Breaks

Bloomington has experienced 24 water main breaks in February alone.
BLOOMINGTON- This harsh winter has kept Bloomington city workers busy with a record number of water main breaks this month.

As of Tuesday morning, Bloomington has experienced twenty-four water main breaks all over town.

That number has more than doubled than in previous years where the city averaged just eleven breaks.

The combination of cold water, brittle pipes, and frost penetration have led to the pipes bursting.

The water director says this is the first time since the nineteen eighties that the numbers for water main breaks have gotten this high.

City water crews have been working tirelessly to make repairs.

Crews hope to have the water mains fixed by the end of the week.
