Business 24 Construction in Washington

Driving through Washington may become a little more difficult starting Monday.

Driving through Washington may become a little more difficult starting Monday.

I-DOT is beginning emergency pavement repairs along Business 24 at the railroad viaduct just west of Wood Street.

Those traveling eastbound on Business 24 will not be able to access Washington Square while construction is underway.

The City of Washington has laid out a preferred route for large trucks.

"We would encourage local delivery trucks to use north Cummings to Cruger Road and back on north Main, back to the square to avoid that center, or get around that area, but still be able to access most of the roadways in town," said Ed Andrews, a City of Washington Engineer.

Construction is expected to last about three weeks.
