A Peoria car fire sends one person to the hospital late this morning.
Emergency crews responded to a call in the 1400 block of Laramie and found a car completely engulfed in flames.
The driver was transported to the hospital with second and third degree burns to his face and hands.
The vehicle was being worked on and the fire may have been caused by welding work being done in the trunk.
Usually we won't have a fire at another location. But the vehicle may have already had some smoldering going on in the trunk. And then when he got driving, the wind probably aided in the fire developing,” said Brad Pierson, Peoria Fire Department Arson Investigator.
Fire fighters believe the driver drove the car away to get water to put the fire out, but then it spread and engulfed the car.
