WMBD/WYZZ-TV - BRIMFIELD, Ill. - When Kerrigan Dura takes the floor in Tuesday's Class 1A girls basketball regional, she'll have a new title.
Career leader in assists for Illinois high school girls basketball.
The Brimfield senior chalked up 11 assists in Saturday's win at Havana, putting her 1,044 for her career, the most in IHSA history.
"It's pretty exciting for me. I didn't think I could get it, didn't even know what the record was," said Dura. "I found out this year. It's something cool, I guess."
Brimfield opens regional play against Princeville in the Peoria Heights regional.
"A person who can make a team better is a lot better than having a great player on your team," said Brimfield coach Jim Blane. "She makes our team what we are. she does all the thing that don't show up in the box scores."
