WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Chiefs will have a new look in 2013.
The team unveil new jerseys and hats to reflect its renewed affiliation with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
"These jerseys and hats give the Peoria Chiefs identity while also celebrating the rich history and tradition of the St. Louis Cardinals," Chiefs President Rocky Vonachen said. "Our fans will enjoy the different combinations of hats and jerseys the players can wear during the 2013 season."
The 2013 home jerseys will be all white with Chiefs on the front in red with navy outline. The Chiefs is in a script similar to that of the Cardinals and the jerseys feature the number on the front and back in red with navy outline.
The two biggest changes from the last few seasons is the removal of the pinstripes and the location of the number on the front of the home jersey. The home jerseys will go with straight white pants which also lose the pinstripes from the past few seasons.
The 2013 road jerseys will be "blue-grey" with red letters, red numbers and red piping down the front. All of the red is outlined in navy and the front of the jerseys feature Peoria in cursive.
After an 8-year affiliation with the Cubs ended this summer, the Chiefs are now a Class A Midwest League team with St. Louis Cardinals.
