Florham Park, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Johnson officially now has a new home, with the former 2,000-yard rusher agreeing to terms with the New York Jets Wednesday on a reported two-year contract.

According to NFL.com, Johnson's deal carries a base value of $8 million and includes $1 million in incentives.

Johnson was released by the Tennessee Titans earlier this month in a move triggered by both financial and production reasons. The three-time Pro Bowl honoree was due to earn $8 million in 2014 and averaged a career-low 3.9 yards per carry this past season. He also underwent minor knee surgery in January.

The 28-year-old became only the sixth player in NFL history to eclipse the 2,000-yard rushing mark in a season when he racked up 2,006 for the Titans in 2009, Johnson's second year in the league. He has run for at least 1,000 yards in all six of his pro seasons, gaining 1,077 in 2013 while scoring 10 total touchdowns (6 rushing, 4 receiving).

For his career, the 2008 first-round pick has amassed 7,965 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns on the ground and added 2,003 yards and eight TD's on 272 receptions.

With the Jets, the speedy Johnson is expected to serve as a complement to power back Chris Ivory, who rushed for a career-best 833 yards on 182 carries last season.
