Civic Center Prepares for Monster Jam

PEORIA - The Peoria Civic Center is undergoing a temporary transformation.
PEORIA - The Peoria Civic Center is undergoing a temporary transformation.

Last night, it hosted the Bradley-Illinois State basketball game.

Starting early this morning, crews started hauling in dirt by the truckload to fill the floor inside the arena.
It's all for Monster Jam. Monster trucks will perform tricks for the crowd.

Organizers say several new trucks will join some old favorites on the dirt course this year. They say it promises to be memorable.

"The most exciting part of this show is when you see it going on, all the kids in the stands, their eyes just light up as soon as they see the trucks. They hear them rev their engines and they get really excited and to see that come across a little boy's face when they come in, it's really awesome,” said Megan Pedigo, assistant director of marketing for the Peoria Civic Center.

The first Monster Jam show will be Friday at 7 p.m. with additional shows Saturday and Sunday.
