Construction Project In Peoria May Hinder Businesses

PEORIA - The intersection of Main & University Streets will undergo construction that could affect area businesses for a few weeks.

The city has planned a $2.6 million dollar project to revamp the intersection of University and Main Streets in Peoria.

The project will fix a water-main break that happened in September of 2013 and also narrow parts University to 3 lanes of traffic.

“I think it’s a good decision that’s overdue”, says Molly Hughes, owner of The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill.

Hughes says it will be a headache for a while but should ultimately bring in more business.

Operations Manager at Avanti’s Ristorante, Stefan Zeller, says “The construction will be a annoying for a weeks but the long-term outcome will be well worth it”.

Construction will begin in February and end sometime in May.
