WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. - If you ask Delano Jones what the main weakness of his Manual team is, he'll tell you
"We rush a little too much," said the Manual High School senior. "We've got young fellows in there, trying to get the feeling of the game. Because they are just now playing varsity basketball."
Ironically, if you ask Jones what he needs to work on. It's the same thing.
"Coach tells me all the time to calm down," said Jones. "It's how I've been playing for the longest time."
"I never have to tell him to speed up or play harder," said head coach Derrick Booth. "Sometimes I have to tell him to calm down. He loves the game."
It's hard for the Rams forward senior to slow down. He's always smiling, always laughing, win or lose he loves to be on the floor playing in front of people.
"I feed off the crowd. I think our team feeds off the crowd, even more," said Jones. "I get going, our team gets going. It's about the energy and how everyone is feeling."
Jones knows he only has a few mor weeks to smile and have a good time before his high school hoops career will be over.
"If I lose this year, I'm probably going to have to cry," laughed Jones. "I just like to win."
