District plans on bigger, better bus barn

GIFFORD -- The buses are out in the open, but they'll soon have a new home. The tornado which ripped through town also destroyed the bus barn at the grade school.

There's a plan to get a new building for the buses. It's going to be even bigger than the previous bus barn. There are five buses at the grade school. There used to be a building right behind the school, but only three buses fit inside.

The school board just approved a plan for a new building which will fit all five. The superintendent says they're going to add more than that.

"Seeing it all cleaned up, seeing a new structure up and then having the buses inside at night. And the new asphalt that will go in the back part of the parking lot. I think that's going to look really nice and bring some closure to the events form last November," said Superintendent Rod Grimsley.

It's going to cost about $220,000 for the project which includes extra parking for the school. The district will use some of its reserve money to cover the costs. They hope to have it done by winter.
