Easter Seals Hosts Walk With Me

Charity allows donors to walk with stars from the Easter Seals program.

PEORIA - Most charitable walks take place in neighborhoods or downtowns, but everyone at Easter Seals’ latest fundraiser got to walk from base to base.

The Central Illinois Chapter of Easter Seals hosted their annual “Walk With Me” today.

Walkers joined Easter Seals ambassadors for a one-mile stroll around and in Corn Crib Stadium.

Twelve-hundred participants packed the home of the Normal Cornbelters to help children with special needs.

The walk is in its fifth year and always receives steady public support.

“People support the East Seals Walk With Me because of the need we have in the community. And it's a really emotional commitment to help the children and help the people who need the services. It's something that's here in the community. It stays in the community,” said Leanna Bordner/ Deputy Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator at Illinois State University. She also organized the walk.

According to the Eater Seals, one in 68 children will be diagnosed with autism this year.
