PEORIA - Some area residents are getting the chance to fix up their homes.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority is taking applications for its Emergency Repair Program.
Those living in the Vinton Highlands Subdivision area can get help bringing their homes up to code
This includes things such as removing lead based paint, asbestos, and mold hazards.
"Having the funds available in Vinton Heights, we think we can help not only those households, but also make a difference in the subdivision," said Michael Sims, the Peoria Grants Coordinator.
A twelve block area will be eligible to apply for the grants.
A pre-application and complete list of program requirements can be picked up at the Community Development Department in City Hall at 419 Fulton Street, Suite 300.
The application process starts July 14.
