Fire Department Investigates Two Weekend Blazes

One family is now homeless.
PEORIA - Three adults and five children are homeless tonight after a fire nearly destroyed their Peoria home.

The fire at 1918 W. Proctor St. was called in just after 9:30 Friday night. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy black smoke. Although the fire was knocked down in a matter of minutes, the house sustained heavy heat and smoke damage.

The fire department estimates $60,000 in damages. Cause of the fire is under investigation. The Peoria Fire department is also investigating a fire that started just after midnight Sunday in the 600 block of W. McClure Ave.

Crews arrived to find a house fully involved. No one was home at the time. The department estimates damage to run $35,000.
