Fire Engulfs Metamora Home

Metamora Fire Chief calls it a "total loss."
METAMORA - A Metamora family is without a home tonight after a fire broke out in the garage late this morning.

It sparked at the house on West Michigan avenue around 11 A.M

Crews from Metamora, Germantown Hills, and Washburn all responded to the blaze.

The three people living in the home were gone when the fire broke out.

Their two dogs were rescued by firemen.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause.

They say someone golfing on the nearby Metamora Fields noticed the smoke and called 9-1-1.

“He double checked to make sure nobody was home; couldn't arouse anybody. The garage was already gone. The house, through the roof when the fire department got here. Got it knocked down. It was a total loss,” said Fire Chief Joel Obrey.
The neighboring home also sustained heat damage from the fire.
