Fox News Poll: Obama's Approval Hits New Low

President Obama's job approval rating hit a record low in the latest Fox News poll released Wednesday night as a majority of Americans say his administration has mostly failed at growing the economy, creating jobs, improving health care and the country's image. For the first time in the Fox News poll, 38 percent approve of Obama's job performance, a new low. 54 percent disapprove. Approval of Obama among Democrats stands at 71 percent near its 69 percent record low. For independents, only 28 percent approve and approval of Obama by Republicans hits a new low at five percent. Overall 59 percent believe the White House has mostly failed at creating jobs, up from 52 percent who said the same thing in October of 2012. The greatest erosion is on improving America's image around the world, something Obama vowed to do once in office. In the new poll 33 percent say mostly succeeded while 59 percent say mostly failed. Obama also promised the most transparent administration but 59 percent of voters believe Obama has failed to run a transparent administration. Only 47 percent of Democrats feel the administration has been transparent. Majorities of independents say the White House has mostly failed in every area tested, including 68 percent who feel that way on improving America's image. On health care, 36 percent say the administration has improved it while 57 percent think it has failed to do so. Likewise, only 36 percent of voters approve of the job Obama is doing on health care while 59 percent disapprove and he receives an almost identical 36 to 58 percent rating on the economy. On the crisis in the Ukraine, by a 33 to 56 percent margin most voters disapprove of the president's handling of foreign policy, a new low for Obama. Finally on whether the country is better off compared to five years ago, just 34 percent think things are better off while 60 percent disagree and think things are worse. 57 percent of Democrats believe the country is better off but that's down from 81 percent who felt that way in 2012.
