While the teachers' strike in Galesburg continued Friday night, athletic teams will be able to resume practice. The school district released a press release Friday saying it decided to grant a wavier for all fall sports to resume, saying it would be in the best interest of the kids. The district initially rejected a request for practice to resume while teachers walked the picket line. The Galesburg Silver Streaks had faced an IHSA rule that they have a minimum 12 days of practice prior to their first game.
