Goodwill Offers “Career Pathways” Program

What you need to know
PEORIA - For a lot of people, high school leads to a job or college, but for those who get stuck in between a new program is here to help.

Goodwill is partnering with Illinois Central College and the Workforce Network to create a course called Career Pathways: Bridge to Success. It provides tutoring, leadership skills, mentoring plus professionalism skills people need to enter the workforce.
"You're going to be working for someone and you're going to be working with customers and you're going to have to know how to act and act appropriately so we give them those extra tips so we'll make it fun, but also educational," said Betsy Bladel, assistant director of vocational services.

Eligibility Requirements
Goodwill of Central Illinois has partnered with Illinois Central College and Workforce Network to create a comprehensive program focused on career readiness training.
• Ages 18 to 21
• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Not currently enrolled in school
• Must be unemployed or underemployed
• Must reside in Peoria, Marshall, Stark or Woodford County

What the Program Provides
• Skill determination testing
• Math and reading tutoring
• Study techniques and soft skills training
• Work experience at a Goodwill retail store
• Leadership development activities
• Adult mentoring and follow-up
• Comprehensive guidance and counseling

All classes are held at Goodwill Commons
