CHICAGO - A new bill signed into law Saturday morning aims at helping ex-cons get back on their feet.

Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation today in Chicago that prevents employers from doing a background check until the applicant is deemed qualified for a job.

The bill agrees with Quinn’s agenda to ensure all workers are treated fairly.

The new law does not apply to jobs where employers must exclude applicants with criminal histories.
