Governor Pat Quinn vetoed a transportation bill Monday to increase the speed limit for trucks on interstates outside of urban areas from 55 to 60mph in certain counties. In his veto, the governor claims the increased speeds would result in increased loss of life. He also cited the deaths of two state employees, a state trooper and Illinois Toll worker in the past year by trucks. No word whether the Illinois General Assembly will attempt to override Quinn's veto.
