HARD CHARGE Race Canceled in Central Illinois

An extreme race, benefitting The Children's Hospital of Illinois, is suddenly shut down.
PEORIA - An extreme race, benefitting The Children's Hospital of Illinois, is suddenly shut down.

The hard charge team says all current and future events are canceled.

And dozens of people already registered won't be getting refunds.

Hard charge race visits cities across the country.

It was in Chillicothe last year.

Hard charge participants push their bodies to the limit in a 4.2 mile course full of obstacles.

Last year, 35 hundred dollars from the Chillicothe event proceeds went to The Children's Hospital.

But this year, that won't be happening.

This note was sent out to this year's race participants and is on the Hard Charge Peoria site.

It says in part, hard charge is ceasing all business operations.

Because of finances, refunds won't be given.

The organization says all current and future events are canceled.

A children's hospital of Illinois spokesperson tells us, "To say they're disappointed is an understatement".

Many people sign up because the race benefits The Children's Hospital of Illinois.

Last year, they coordinated Children's Hospital volunteers for the race.

Children's Hospital hasn't had contact with hard charge for two months and had no input on this decision.
