Area high school seniors were honored for their outstanding writing skills today at the Peoria Women's Club.
The Daughters of the American Revolution handed out their annual “Good Citizens” awards.
One student from each of the eighteen area high schools was chosen.
Students were judged on a written essay about American history.
Organizer Shirley Pletkobich say it's a tribute to the hard work and dedication that these young scholars put forth.
"Education is a big thing for us. It's one of our 3 mottos. We love to find ways to do this. They are the crème of the crop... they are wonderful."
The guest speaker at today's event was Dr. William Hall from Bradley University.
Four area middle school students were also honored for their winning essays.
