Hometown Heroes: Brad and Brett Vandemark

Brothers Brett and Brad Vandemark are originally from Knoxville.

They followed in the footsteps of their father, stepfather, and grandfather by enlisting in the United States Army.

After three years of ROTC in high school, Brad joined in 2009.

Brad trained to become a forward observer and went on to complete two deployments, one in Iraq and one in Kuwait.

He and his wife Amanda are now stationed at Fort Benning Georgia with the third infantry division.

Brett signed on in 2010, after completing some college courses.

Brett trained in Georgia as infantry, and is currently on a deployment to Afghanistan.

He is stationed out of Fort bliss Texas with the first armored division.
