Volunteers from the South Side Mission are getting their hands dirty fixing up homes in the community today.
They’re called the Hope Builders and they’re volunteering time to repair and spruce up homes on Peoria’s south side.
The Hope Builders say all the hard work is worth it to see the homeowners reaction to what they’ve done.
"It gives you a level of satisfaction, plus the folks that live in the home, to see the joy on their face, to get something fixed that's been chronically wrong for a long time," said volunteer, Phil Chamberlain.
"That's very awesome. The railing, just wonderful. I like it. I’m waiting to see what the front is going to look like. I'm excited, very excited," said homeowner, Judy Porter.
The Hope Builders will be out working again tomorrow.
