Producers were busy last week with anhydrous applications while corn planting progressed slowly, according to a report from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Corn planting is five percent complete but remained well behind the five year average of 22 percent. Topsoil moisture was rated at 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 5 percent very short, 24 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.
