Illinois Unemployment Rate Drops Again (UPDATE)

Illinois Unemployment Rate Drops Again (UPDATE)

New U.S. Labor Department numbers show the rate is down to 7.1%, but still a percentage point higher than the national rate.
Illinois' Unemployment rate is down to its lowest rate in nearly six years.  New stats from the U.S. Bureau of Labor show 11,200 private sector jobs were added last month and unemployment dropped from 7.1% in June to 6.8% in July. That is its lowest level since August 2008.  However, the national rate is a whole percentage point lower at 6.1%.
The rate has continued to fall over the last 12 months since it was at 9.2% in July 2013. It's also come a long way since the 11.4% rate the state saw in January 2010.
8300 construction jobs were added along with 3900 manufacturing jobs. However, in the past month we lost 3800 jobs in leisure and hospitality.
