Ironmen Try To Tame Wildcats

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -- For years, Normal Community was favored to beat Normal West in football.

Now the shoe is on the other foot. Friday night, the Ironmen (2-2) look to hand Normal West its first regular season loss in two years,

"It would be big for our kids. Been a couple years since we have been able to beat them," said Normal Community coach Wes Temples. "They have been on a nice run. Our first goal every year is to contend for the Big 12 championship. In order to do that, we need to win games like this."

West (4-0) has not only won the last two meetings with Normal Community but the Wildcats won that coveted Big 12 title last fall.

After dropping consecutive games, Normal Community bounced back with a 42-21 win over champaign Centennial last week.

"We've lost some close games," said NCHS lineman Garrett Wooten. "I feel like we really have come together as a team this week. Doing very well as a team. I'm really looking forward to seeing how we are going to play this week."

Game time Friday at West is 7 p.m.
