NORMAL - Illinois State University’s Board of Trustees today approved tuition, fees, and room and board rates for new freshman and transfer students for the 2014-15 academic year.

New undergraduate, full-time students from Illinois will pay $349 per credit hour in tuition for the 2014-15 academic year. That rate is $7 more per credit hour, or 2.05 percent, than was charged last year. New students will continue to pay this rate through summer of 2018.

New out-of-state, full-time undergraduate students will pay $602 per credit hour for the 2014-15 academic year. That rate is a $12, or 2.03 percent, increase per credit hour from the 2013-14 academic year. The rate will continue through the summer of 2018.

Illinois State includes its mandatory fees in the four-year guarantee, assuring students and parents that fee rates will not change from year to year. The mandatory fees for the 2014-15 academic year for full-time, new students will be $78.66 per credit hour, an increase of $1.54, or 2.0 percent, per credit hour from last year. The increase will be used for operational costs, to provide for debt service and to meet repair and replacement reserve requirements.

Residence hall rates depend on the type of room (multiple occupancy, single or super single), with rates increasing by 2.5 percent for the 2014-15 academic year. Students will pay $5,282 for a multiple occupancy room, $7,130 for a multiple occupancy room in a suite, $7,024 for a single room, $8,080 for a super single, $8,186 for a single in a suite and $9,030 for a super single in a suite.

Dining rates remain unchanged from the previous academic year. A residential plan that includes seven days of unlimited meals will cost $4,472, or five days of unlimited meals will cost $4,134. A traditional plan of 19 meals will cost $4,688, or 14 meals will cost $4,316. A 225 Block plan will cost $4,102 and will include 225 meals per semester, with meals expiring at the end of each semester.
