ISU Considers Hosting Illini Basketball Games in 2015

While the State Farm Center undergoes renovations, U of I is looking at venues to host some games.
NORMAL- As Illini officials search for venues while the State Farm Center is renovated, one option they can consider is to host games at Illinois State University's Red Bird Arena.

The arena has a capacity of more than 10,000.

The athletic department at ISU has offered a few potential dates for hosting a couple of Illini basketball games.

So far ISU has not heard back from Illini officials.

Even though they could only offer two openings due to conflicts with their own schedule, the athletic director says it was the neighborly thing to do.

"Being a good neighbor, to help them. We know it's a long process for them, you know. We, again, we discussed it internally. We talked to our basketball coaches about it and everybody said hey if we can help them, let's see what we can do to help them," said Larry Lyons, ISU's Athletic Director.

Despite the offer, the atletic director believes U of I will most likely choose a venue that will host most of the games together.
