Unemployment rates fell in 11 of 12 metro Illinois areas in January, including the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal areas.
However, our area saw the largest loss of jobs in the state.
The January unemployment rate feel .1 of a percent in Bloomington-Normal to 7.7 percent.
The Peoria area fared a bit better, seeing a drop of .3 of a percent dipping below 10 percent.
As for job loss, Bloomington-Normal saw a loss of 2,400 jobs while Peoria lost 3,400.
Officials say the loss reflects a slowdown in global manufacturing demands.
