JBT Visits Peoria; Talks to Notprofit

Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka spoke to Crittenton Centers about

Peoria - Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka stopped by the River City today.

She addressed employees of Crittenton Centers to talk about the state payment delays of nonprofits.

Crittenton Centers offers child care and early education services for families.

Delayed state funding doesn't allow the organization to operate at its full potential.

Currently 73 percent of their budget is being funded by the state.

"Because I really do feel like this is important. Look at what percentage of your budget comes from the state. I want to make sure you get as much as you can get, when you can get it, and when I have it to give."

Payments from the state are often delayed by as much as three to six months.
