PEORIA - Buyers looking for children's clothing at a good price are in luck this week.
Peoria's Limelight Eventplex is lined- wall to wall with gently used clothes.
“Everyone is excited when they come in. You can buy a name brand coat that is $110 for 20 bucks,” said Kelly Joseph, the organizer of the Kids Closet Consignment Sale.
Clothes for your kids and teens, toys and more.
It's all part of the kids closet consignment sale at the Limelight Eventplex in Peoria.
“Everything that goes through has to be inspected to make sure it's in good shape,” said Joesph.
Think of it as a big garage sale.
“So we have consignors they come in and they tag their items two months before. So they get everything ready. Tag them and they get to price their own items. And they earn their percentage back,” explained Joseph.
This is Kelly Joseph's third consignment sale in the past year.
Consignors earn 70 percent of the money made from selling their item, and 75 percent if they volunteer at the event.
Joseph’s goal is to help parents find good deals and started organizing the events when the economy got bad.
“ That's when we started this. And it also saved parents from putting together a garage sale. It's the one place you can come in and get everything you need for a kid.”
And parents with young, active kids are thankful.
“You go out to the store and spend 20 dollars on a t-shirt and they're rough housing and they rip and their eating a lot. It's just easy to come out and get something that's gently used,” says Kathy Dolan, a shopper at the event.
“It's a great place to come and find cheaper toys and clothes because people grow out of things so quickly it's hard to pay full price,” said Avalon Marsh, a Peoria resident.
Even if something doesn't get sold... It still goes to a good cause.
Extra items are donated to the Dream Center of Peoria
The sale continues tomorrow and Saturday at the Limelight Eventplex. They are open from 9 A.M. until 7 P.M. on Friday, and 9 A.M. until noon on Saturday. Everything is half off on Saturday.
