A lawsuit, filed against LaSalle County by a woman who claims she was forcibly stripped search was settled out of court. According to the LaSalle News Tribune, Dana Holmes, who was arrested for DUI, will be paid 125 thousand dollars while her attorney will be paid $100,000 in legal fees. Other people, who came forward after the initial lawsuit was filed, will also be paid as part of the settlement. Holmes claimed her civil rights were violated. The Tribune says, based on the potential costs of defending the lawsuit, LaSalle County decided to settle and revise its policy regarding forcible strip searches.
