PEORIA – A Peoria non-profit is receiving $3 million to revitalize the East Bluff area.

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation, or LISC, applied for funding from the National Foreclosure Settlement Fund to help with neighborhood rebuilding.

It’s a collaborative effort by several local groups, including the East Bluff Neighborhood Association and the city of Peoria.

They said it’s still in the planning stages. The money will help pay for the demolition of 20 buildings and the creation of 30 homes. Some of those homes will be dedicated to renters with special needs.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced the award winners on Wednesday.
