McLean County Circuit Court Judge James Souk will retire from the 11th Circuit bench after 15 years when his term expires December 2012. Judge Souk was appointed Associate Judge in January 1997 and served in that capacity until August 2002 when he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill a judge vacancy. He was later elected to that position in 2002 and was retained in 2008. Judge Souk once served as a chief felony prosecutor in McLean County in 1991 until his appointment to the bench. Judge Souk's position will be filled in the November 2012 general election.
