Menorah on Display at Northwoods Mall Kicks Off Festival of Lights

The holidays are officially here for members of the Jewish faith.
PEORIA - The holidays are officially here for members of the Jewish faith. Preparations for the celebration have begun. A menorah is on display at Northwoods Mall and for the next 8 days a candle will be lit on each night. The lighting of the candles commemorates the miracle of the oil that lasted 8 days instead of burning out after one.

Rabbi Leeli Lengsam of the Lubavitch Chabad says “The idea of the menorah in Northwood and other public places like the White House, is the reason because the menorah represents religious freedom.”

This is the 12th year the menorah has been on display at Northwoods.
