PEORIA - Local officials are asking you to take action before severe weather strikes.
Thursday, the Central Illinois Public Information Officers are hosting a special forum on emergency preparedness.
It's part of a national effort.
The seminar will help teach area residents how to prepare for a natural disaster.
The event will cover everything from emergency kits to communication issues and speaking to children about the potential for severe storms.
We sat with Sara Sparkman of the Tazewell County Health Department Wednesday night to learn more about the event.
The Day of Action event is Thursday, May 1st from 6 until 7:30 P.M. at the Stoney Creek Inn in East Peoria.
