New Exhibit at the Caterpillar Visitors Center

Pays tribute to Peoria's rich basketball history.

The Caterpillar Visitors Center is showing off its newest exhibit, but instead of cat yellow- this display is more black and white.

The Caterpillar Diesels and the Peoria Cats were staples of the Peoria area in the 1950’s.

The exhibit showcases game worn jerseys, game footage, even an olympic gold medal won in 1952.

Several members of the gold medal and championship teams were on hand to showcase their achievements and tell their story.

Gold medalist Frank McCabe says, "I remember carrying the flag down 5th avenue in New York before the Olympics. It's an honor to represent the company, your country, yourself."

Gene Peters explains, "It brings back some memories, just seeing some of the guys. It's enjoyable seeing them all again."

The exhibit will be open until June 30th.
